Quotes

“I think that it is not exaggerated to say that no other educational system in the world gives such a central role to the arts as the Waldorf School Movement. There is not a subject taught that does not have an artistic aspect. Even mathematics is presented in an artistic fashion and related via dance, movement or drawing to the child as a whole. Steiner’s system of education is built on the premise that art is an integral part of human endeavors. He gives it back its true role. Anything that can be done to further his revolutionary educational ideals will be of the greatest importance.”

School Bulletin for the Week of January 10, 2007

we’re back!

Yup, we are back with Mega Auction New Year spirit to share in abundance.

Ok, you Whole Food Warriors we can now cease fire with the bags….we have reached our Whole Food bag goal. We appreciate each and every bag that was dropped off. Thank you one and all.

Can we talk baskets? The ones in your storage room, the ones you got for the holidays with little cheese snacks, the basket you just love but don't have a spot for? Please drop off baskets in good condition at Auction headquarters. We will use them to make beautiful Auction baskets.

Can we talk re-gifting? The holidays our over, and perhaps you received a gift that was given with thoughtfulness but you just don't know exactly what to do with; a gadget you will never be able to figure out (a gadget lover will love it), a lovely toy that your child is to old or to young for, books for a book basket that have already been read, things you already have. We will save you the trouble of returning them, you don't have to feel guilt because the thoughtfulness the gift was given with will be appreciated as an Auction donation.

Can we talk about donations? If every parent, every teacher, every administrator, every department, even our cleaning crew, gave a donation to the Auction we would reach our goal. Not just our monetary goal (which is, of course, important) but the goal of having an auction that embodies school spirit and school support. No matter how little or how big we can make your contribution count. Can we count on you? Auction donations forms are available at the front desk, and Auction headquarters. Auction support is available from any member of the Auction crew.

Can we talk about tickets? March 10th — have you saved the date? Tables will move fast; Jack Nicholas, Tom Hanks and Agnes Moorehead are a few tables that have already sold. If you buy a table you can name it!

The Auction party is going to be fab! Jamie and Chad are putting together a Gala that is sure to go down in Waldorf Auction history. Tickets are available on-line (www.chicagowaldorf.org.) and at Auction headquarters. In about 8 weeks it will be Auction Time and we will be ready. The Auction crew is not panicked (ok maybe just a little) we are very excited. We are having a great time producing Red Carpet Gala! Sure it's a lot of work but when we have a community like ours to work with….it almost seems like play.

We Auction from the Inside Out!

-Shannon, Katybeth, Daina, Jamie & Chad

condolences

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Driscoll family on the passing of Georges Driscoll, grandfather of Madelaine (4) and alums Marie-Laure and Jean-Patrick. As a boy, Mr. Driscoll attended classes at the St. Ignatius school right here in our current building. Over the years he always asked his grandchildren if they found the gum that he put under his desk! Mr. Driscoll died peacfully on December 26, 2006; he was 88.
