Congratulations to Caitriona McCarthy (EC Bruck) and her parents, Jessica and Tom, on the birth of Michael Patrick McCarthy at 5:50pm on May 27th. Michael weighed 6lbs 11oz and was 19” long. Everyone is doing well.

reflex integration therapy
Janet Oliver, reflex integration specialist and Handle practitioner of Plan for Learning near Minneapolis, MN, will be in Chicago Thursday, August 23rd, Friday, August 24th and Friday, August 25th. She will be available to do 1 1⁄2 hour screenings for up to 12 individual children in a private home a short drive from the Chicago Waldorf School. Ms. Oliver's approach addresses a variety of learning, attention and behavior differences. The screenings will result in advice and exercises to be done at home. See Ms. Oliver's website, Plan for Learning for more about her approach and/or call Margaret McGuire at 773.828.8460 to reserve a screening time. Reserve a spot before school lets out, if possible, so that there is time to send an information form to Janet in advance of the screening. The cost for the screening will be $95.

flutes
China needs your pentatonic flutes&033;&033;&033; Former CWS music teacher, Elisabeth Swisher, is collecting pentatonic flutes to bring to the Chengdu Waldorf School in Chengdu, China where she will be teaching flute to the kindergarten and grade school teacher trainees this summer. If you have a pentatonic flute lying around that you aren't using anymore, please consider donating it to this fine endeavor. Please bring them to Mr. Spade's music room or leave them in the Main Office before June. There will be about 80 new Waldorf teacher training students in Chengdu, but not too much money to buy all the flutes we need.

garden of bliss
At 3:15pm on Thursday, June 7th D.E.V.A. (Divine Expressions of Vital Alchemy) Dance Collaborative, featuring CWS moms Melissa Reesh (1st grade parent), Lachelle Hayes (2nd grade parent), Roberta Schmatz (parent in EC Culbert and 4th grade) and founder⁄facilitator Hazel Ginsberg (1st grade parent) will perform part 1 of The Garden of Bliss, a ritual-dance invoking spiritual abundance, in the Sophia Garden. All are welcome. Come join us after pick-up time. Bring snacks and picnic with us after the dance.
