Quotes

”...Waldorf education remains to become better known to Americans. Other independent educational movements, much less thoroughgoing in their attempts to integrate at every level of education art, science, and an appreciation of the fully human, have curiously been given much more attention. At a time of searching and reappraisal in American education, the Waldorf Movement with its unique understanding of the education of the child and its years of teaching practice and institutional experience deserves the informed consideration of those genuinely concerned with education and the development of human wholeness.”

Iowa Tests14 April 2008

Dear Parents,

After reviewing the materials for the upcoming Iowa tests, I would like to extend our scheduled testing time to 5 days to give the children the optimal testing circumstances. In other words, we will be working for shorter amounts of time spread out over the full week, beginning Monday, April 21st (not Tuesday, April 22nd as previously announced). We will be working on the Iowa tests for the first hour or so in the morning. The children are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and to bring in snacks to share during our breaks.

Thank you so much,

Becky

6th Grade Study on Adolescence - Part II 4 April 2008

Hello 6th Grade Parents,

Happy Spring!

I have finally found time to continue with the second half of our study on adolescence which we began in the fall. I sent home the chapter today with your son or daughter.

On Wednesday, April 16th, we will continue the study, beginning on page 69. We will review the first half and begin looking at the second part. We will have refreshments and socializing at 6:30pm and begin the study by 7:00pm.

In preparation for this, I ask that you finish reading the lecture as well as prepare a simple, artistic representation of something from the chapter – a paragraph, a sentence, a concept, etc. – as the inspiration for your artwork. Your artwork can be in the form of a picture, a drawing, skit, riddle, poem, painting…whatever. Be prepared to give a very brief description of your work. I look forward to seeing how your creativity can enhance our study.

See you soon,

Becky Moskowitz
