Quotes

“We shouldn’t ask: what does a person need to know or be able to do in order to fit into the existing social order? Instead we should ask: what lives in each human being and what can be developed in him or her? Only then will it be possible to direct the new qualities of each emerging generation into society. The society will become, what young people as whole human beings, make out of the existing social conditions. The new generation should not just be made to be what the present society wants it to become.”

Halloween 21 October 2007

Hi Everyone,

Halloween will soon be here. For those children who attend school on Wednesdays, there will be a special celebration at school. The 7th grade will be putting on a Trick or Treat Trail for us, and all the EC classes, in the Sophia Garden. In small groups, the 7th graders will present nursery rhymes to the children and give them treats (provided by the parents—sign up sheet outside of classroom). In light of the food allergy in the class, please bring only non-edible treats.

The children are welcome to wear costumes to school, but nothing scary and no media characters or masks. Please make sure that the costume is comfortable and that they are dressed warmly enough for outside play.

We will be baking pumpkin bread in class to have as part of our Halloween celebration.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Welcome to friends old and new24 August 2007

Dear Families,

Welcome to school!

I am very excited about our new year. For many of you, this is the first time your child will be attending school. This is a big transition for the whole family. To support you in this transition, you are invited to attend the following events:

We will have our first parent meeting on August 28 at 7:00, following the new parent welcome dinner at 5:30.

On Sunday, September 2, we will have a couple of family get togethers in the morning—9-10:30 for Monday to Wednesday families and
11-12:30 for Thursday Friday families.

We will meet in the classroom for play, snack and circle and story. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to get to know the teachers and the classroom and really helps with those first days of school. I hope you all can make it.
