Nora’s sun and moon park
10am-3pm

Whether you’re a current family, an alumni community member, or part of the local neighborhood, join us for our annual celebration of spring, featuring a variety of local artisans, restaurants, and craftspeople, as well as music and dancing! As we approach the fair, this page will be your hub for vendor information, volunteer opportunities, and updates.

what is the may fair?

From the days of parking lot fairs, to blocked-off side streets, the Chicago Waldorf May Fair has come a long way to its new home in Nora's Sun and Moon Park.

Traditionally celebrated by Waldorf schools throughout the world, the May Fair is a daylong seasonal festival marking spring. We welcome the school and Andersonville community to celebrate together.

This outdoor festival will feature live entertainment, local artisans and food vendors, and games and activities for families. The iconic centerpiece of all Waldorf May Fairs is the children’s Maypole dance, which will be performed at noon by the 4th grade with musical accompaniment from the 5th & 6th grades.

looking to volunteer?

Volunteering at May Fair is a wonderful way to support the school and create community connections. Whether you’re a musician, craftsperson, expert burger-flipper, or you’ve just got a pair of hands to lend, we’d love your support!

  • Volunteer!

The May Fair depends on the support of volunteers to make it magical! Volunteering is also a wonderful way to make new friends in the community!

    Parent Volunteers

Parents are invited to volunteer for a variety of activities based on your child's grade level. We encourage each family to sign up for a shift!

    Student Volunteers

Students in grades 9, 10, and 12 are invited to volunteer for Steiner's Diner! Students in grade 11 are invited to volunteer for the Wellington Tea with their Rising Star buddies!

    Wellington Tea

What used to be called the Kindergarten Tea has been renamed to honor the person who started it all, Ms. Wellington! May Fair attendees are invited to one of our Early Childhood classrooms for tea and scones, served by our very own Rising Stars (with some loving support from our 11th graders, who will be their buddies next year!). If you've ever spent time in our Early Childhood classrooms, you know what a warm and cozy environment it is - the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea!

WARNING: This commodity is as hot as the tea, so be sure to look out for tickets, which will be on sale soon!
