Nora’s Sun and Moon Park

Throughout the 2020-21 school year, our Chicago Waldorf School community raised millions of dollars to build Nora’s Sun and Moon Park, our outdoor learning environment and play space. The park is named for Nora Leonard, a former student who passed away in 2019, who embodied the spirit of Waldorf education with her tireless curiosity and fierce commitment to creating joy for herself and others.

We invite the wider community to use Nora’s Sun and Moon Park when it is not in use by the school. Because the park is dear to us and essential to our daily teaching, we want to make sure that we have someone on staff inside the building while it’s in use.

public hours are from 3:30pm-6:00pm monday-friday

The park will be closed to the public on weekends, school holidays, and, of course, when in use for school events. Open hours are subject to change, depending on our ability to provide staffing. Restrooms are not available for public use, so please plan accordingly.

If you arrive when the park is closed, Andersonville Park is a public park across Ashland Avenue from the school. Winnemac Park, a large public park west of the school on Foster Avenue, is also a short walk away.
